Join us for an evening with illustrator, author and artist Jessica Love as she talks with us about her work and process.

Jessica Love is the author and illustrator of Julián is a MermaidJulián at the Wedding and A Bed of Stars published by Candlewick Press, and the illustrator of I Love You Because I Love You by Mượn Thị Văn, published by HarperCollins.
Jessica’s poignant, colourful and lush picturebooks are full of life, and depict the beauty of our diverse world with empathy and sensitivity. In these troubled times, her books are at once fierce statements of allyship with marginalized communities, and wonderful quiet visual escapes to warmer places.

Jessica grew up in Southern California, raised by a pair of artist parents. She studied printmaking and illustration at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and then went on to study Drama at Juilliard. After working as an actor in New York for ten years, she made a pivot and created Julián is a Mermaid, her first book. Jessica lives in the Hudson Valley with her sweetheart and their son.

Because we are strong supporters of an inclusive and diverse (picture book) community in which everyone can feel safe and free to be themselves, we will be donating €2 of every ticket from this session to Drag Story Hour.

As usual, there will be plenty of time for Q&A after the talk. We would love to hear from you!

/// Please note: All ticket buyers will be sent access to a full recording of the talk and Q&A, which will be available for four days after the event. You will receive an email with a link for this a day later. Send us an email especially if you have not received it after 24 hours – please do so after you have checked your spam folder. Tickets are non-refundable.
