Join us for an evening with illustrator and author Flavia Zorrilla Drago as she talks with us about how she became an illustrator, the making of her book “Gustavo – the Shy Ghost,” and also a bit about her fascinating PhD research into horror as a genre in the picturebook format.

Flavia’s book ‘Gustavo – the Shy Ghost’ (also published as ‘Seppo – the Shy Ghost’ in the Netherlands by Fontaine Publishers, in the UK by Walker Books), is a wonderful picture book about a little ghost who more than anything in the world wants to make some friends, but he has a little problem. He is way too shy, so much that the other monsters around him can’t notice him.

Flavia Z Drago started her career as a graphic designer and then became an illustrator, which has given her the opportunity to live and travel doing what she loves in different countries such as Spain, France, and England, where she graduated from the Children’s Book Illustration MA at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. She now lives and works in the UK as an illustrator and author of picture books, and is doing a PhD researching horror as a genre in the picture book format.
