Vyara Boyadjieva is an illustrator and picture book maker originally from Bulgaria. The Netherlands is the sixth country where she lives, and her nomadic life is a treasure she often draws inspiration from. She really enjoys working on projects with anthropological aspects, merging storytelling with the richness of ethnic diversity.
In 2017, Vyara completed her BA Comics and illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna and in 2020 she graduated from the MA in Children’s Book Illustration, at the Cambridge School of Art. The same year, the Victoria and Albert Museum awarded her “Student Illustrator of the Year Runner-Up” in their annual Illustration Awards. She is currently making picture books with publishers such as Walker Books (UK), Flying Eye Books (UK), and La Joie de Lire (CH).
